Digitizing Courts: A New Era of Transparency in Nigeria

In many parts of Nigeria, the wheels of justice turn slowly. Traditional, paper-based systems often lead to missing files, prolonged adjournments, and a lack of public oversight. PPDC's court digitisation project is changing that narrative.

By implementing electronic filing and automated scheduling systems, we have seen a 40% reduction in case handling times in our pilot states. But the impact goes beyond speed—it's about transparency. For the first time, court schedules and decisions are becoming accessible to the public in real-time.

Transforming the Experience

Legal practitioners and citizens alike are experiencing a more reliable justice system. Digital records mean that evidence is preserved, and the history of a case cannot be easily manipulated. This data-driven approach also allows judicial administrators to identify bottlenecks and allocate resources more effectively.

Our work in Nigeria serves as a blueprint for justice sector reform across the continent, proving that technology, when combined with civic oversight, can rebuild public trust in the rule of law.
