Strengthening AccountabilityAcross Africa, From the UK
PPDC UK mobilises philanthropy, partnerships, and global expertise to strengthen governance, justice reform, and citizen-led accountability across Africa. We serve as the UK gateway for investing in transformative solutions that empower communities, improve public services, and advance open governance.
PPDC UK
PPDC UK is the international arm of the Public and Private Development Centre, established to connect global funders, policymakers, and partners with proven African-led solutions in transparency, justice reform, and citizen accountability.
Based in the United Kingdom, we serve as a bridge between donors and grassroots organisations by providing compliant funding channels, civic-tech tools, policy dialogues, and capacity-building support.
Drawing on PPDC’s two decades of impact in Nigeria, from open contracting reforms to justice sector digitisation, PPDC UK advances this work globally, mobilising partnerships and resources to strengthen governance and improve citizen outcomes across Africa.

Learn More About Our Work→UK-Based, Africa-Driven
Operating from the UK allows us to convene international funders, policymakers, universities, and philanthropic institutions to support accountability innovations across Africa.
A Bridge for Philanthropy & Global Support
We design and manage initiatives that direct resources to grassroots organisations, journalists, justice actors, and civic innovators, especially those traditionally overlooked by large funding systems.
Strategic Partnerships & Policy Influence
PPDC UK facilitates UK–Africa dialogues, joint research, and policy exchange to strengthen open governance, anti-corruption reforms, and digital transformation.
Backed by Proven Impact
Our work builds on the PPDC legacy: over two decades of documented impact in strengthening public procurement integrity, improving access to justice, and promoting citizen-driven reforms.
We Do
From our base in the UK, we co-create programmes, mobilise funding, and strengthen the ecosystem around governance, justice reform, and citizen accountability across Africa.
UK–Africa Partnerships
We connect UK institutions, funders, philanthropists and experts with African-led accountability initiatives. Through strategic collaborations, policy dialogues, and cross-border learning exchanges, PPDC UK strengthens the ecosystem for transparent, inclusive, and citizen-driven governance across Africa.
Accountability & Governance Innovation
We scale tested civic-tech and justice reform tools, such as open contracting platforms, digital court systems, and data-driven governance solutions, to improve transparency, service delivery, and institutional performance. Our work supports governments, CSOs, and communities in advancing evidence-based reforms.
Grants & Knowledge Support
PPDC UK provides compliant grantmaking channels that enable donors to fund grassroots organisations directly in Africa. We also offer research, training, and capacity-building support to strengthen local actors, enhance accountability practices, and amplify community-led solutions across Africa.
Impact
PPDC UK expands the reach of over 20 years of African-led innovation by mobilising global partnerships and resources to scale proven models of transparency and justice reform.
"Our UK office exists to deepen, accelerate, and scale this impact across Africa, in partnership with global actors who believe in citizen-led accountability."
